April 1987 28-year-old Piet Beentjes disappeared. Ever since his sister Toos has tried to find out the truth behind Piet’s disappearance. This documentary wants to uncover ‘the anatomy’ of a disappearance. A film about the Kafkaesque world in which Toos Beentjes has been living in since her brother has vanished.

Jaap van Hoewijk

Jaap van Hoewijk (Rotterdam 1963) started to make documentaries in 1995. Besides directing his own films, he works incidentally as an (executive) producer. In the summer of 2005, along with nine fellow film makers, he set up the film collective “PLU Films”, in which they jointly develop projects.

1995  “Procedure 769, the witnesses to an execution” (85’). Documentary about the witnesses of the first execution of 25 years in California, USA. 35mm /Jura Film/ NCRV. Silver Spire-Int. Filmfest. San Francisco.

2001  “Family secret” (55’). 23 Years after his father’s death, filmmaker van Hoewijk finds out his father didn’t die in a accident, but commited suiside. 35mm/ Jura Film/ NCRV.

2010  “Miracle along the River Maas” (50’). Documentary about Rotterdam’s tallest tower ‘Euromast’. Diafragma Films/ RTV Rijmond.
