Nada’s Revolution

“The revolution took away the fear. We learned we can change things if we want to.” This was Nada Ahmed’s experience of the revolution that deposed Mubarak in 2011 and that’s when she decided to make her old dream come true: work with children’s theatre. The country is paralyzed by political turmoil, caught between the old traditions and modernization. Nada’s religious family is not happy with her being nearly thirty and unmarried. When Nada finally finds love and feels ready to marry she is confronted with the question: will she be free to engineer her own life within that institution?”

Director

Claudia Lisboa

Claudia Lisboa is born in Diamantina, Brazil. She lives and works in Stockholm and Amsterdam. Over the past 20 years Claudia directed many (short) films and commercials. Her latest documentary was Beauty Refugee, a film about her Brazilian family; almost every member of the clan has gotten to know the knife of her plastic surgeon-brother Sergio. Claudia calls herself a “beauty refugee” and lives in Sweden, far away from the obsessions of her Brazilian family.
