Deep inside the Russian forests, against the wishes of the authorities, 60-year-old Yuri Dmitriev searches for mass graves from the era of Stalin’s terror against his own people – until one day he is arrested and sentenced to 15 years in a penal colony. Following Yuri closely, the film paints a shocking picture of the way the Russian state rewrites history and treats its citizens.

We’re excited to share that THE DMITRIEV AFFAIR (directed by Jessica Gorter) will have its world premiere at @krakowfilmfestival this June. The film is about Yuri Dmitriev who, inside the Russian forests, against the wishes of the authorities, searches for mass graves from the era of Stalin’s terror against his own people - until one day Yuri is arrested and sentenced to 15 years in a penal colony. Last Wednesday, ‘My Big Brother’ (‘Mijn grote broer’) won the Dutch Movies Matter Award at @moviesthatmatterfestival.

‘My Big Brother’ tells the story of 19-year-old Gijs who, together with his parents, tries to come to terms with the unexpected suicide of his older brother Arie. In the documentary we see them slowly but surely, start to rebuild their lives.

The film will screen in Dutch theaters from April 13th.

23 september gaat ‘Lazy Duck’ in premiere op het @nederlandsfilmfestival. Over de docu: ‘Tijdens een zeilreis in Columbia wordt bij een roofoverval de vrouw van Peter Putker om het leven gebracht. De Colombiaanse justitie beweert dat Peter deze roofoverval in scène heeft gezet. Het OM in Nederland neemt de vervolging over en Peter is de enige die kan vertellen wat er precies is gebeurd. Mocht zijn relaas in twijfel worden getrokken dan is hij afhankelijk van de conclusies van het Colombiaanse onderzoek. Gedurende het verloop van de rechtszaak in Nederland zien we hoe Peter overgeleverd is aan de interpretaties van anderen over wat er die avond heeft plaatsgevonden. Dit rechtbankdrama laat minutieus zien hoe de rechtsstaat in zijn werk gaat in een zaak waarin de bewijslast op verschillende manieren uitgelegd kan worden. Hoe komt de rechtbank tot een gewogen conclusie?’ In coproductie met @omroepvpro (Teledoc). Regie: Walter Stokman

@npo_2 : 'Privégesprekken'. Een documentairefilm over intimiteit en kanker. Maar liefst tweederde van de (ex)patiënten geeft aan tijdens maar ook na de ziekte problemen te ervaren met hun seksleven. Desondanks is het nog altijd een onderwerp dat in het zorgtraject snel links komt te liggen. In deze film gaan koppels met elkaar in gesprek over welke gevolgen de kanker voor hun intimiteit gehad heeft.
